With a number of infectious originals sprinkled in for good measure, SSC delivers a fresh take on songs, old and new. From the sounds of Latin American dance halls and the big band era to soulful R&B and fifties rock. From the gritty, riotous underbelly of speakeasy jazz to the bizarre cabarets of wartime Berlin. ![]() Soaring through numerous genres effortlessly, their energetic sets take you to colorful and surprising places. The staff were charming and cheerful.Spirited, stylish and engaging, Sidecar Social Club is a shot of whiskey hitting your veins. Heaven. The patio has excellent heaters, even when it’s cold it was plenty warm. The flourless chocolate slice of holymoly with a cup of hot coffee is everything you’ve been looking for to close your evening – silky, smooth, butter soft chocolate decadence with a hefty floof of whip cream. Then of course you’ll have absolutely noooo room for dessert. Also say yes to the brussels, to the oysters, to the tuna tartare! I seriously doubt there’s something you won’t like. Nor the bread, say yes to all the bread! And dunk that in the butter magic for the full gluttony experience. Whatever you do, do NOT pass up on the crab. Please pardon my carnage-only pictures, I was so busy swimming in the magical spicy garlic butter soup with the crab claws that all logical thought to get “pre-devouring” pics was absent. Such a gem of a place! Perfect atmosphere: cozy and rustic but delicate vibe. With all the great restaurants in Raleigh, this is not one that we will return to. The server left the menu behind for those who wanted to order more food. The entrees that we did get were delicious. The salad ($10.00) could not be shared by more than 2 people. The steak tacos ($24.00) were three of the smallest tacos I have seen. The bread order ($4.00) was 2 slices of bread cut in half. Our server explained the a la carte menu to us and told us that the portions were large enough to be shared by the dinner guests. When we left an hour later 25% were still empty. At that time, there were over a dozen available tables, but we were told that the area was full. ![]() This fact we discovered last evening at 6:00pm. Reservations are done by email, but if you want to dine in the covered outdoor patio you MUST state that in your reservation. We selected Humble Pie as it was listed as one of the best places to eat outside in Raleigh. There is parking available in an adjacent lot after 6:00pm. Want to mix it up a little…start with a drink at Barcelona then walk one block to Humble Pie for dinner, and then back over near Barcelona to have a cup of coffee at Heirloom. You have to give Humble Pie a try, especially if you are concerned about Covid as they have one of the biggest and warmest outdoor seating offerings in Raleigh. Clearly I was so consumed with consuming, I failed to capture the Brussels and only did the crab and cake when there was literally one bite left. ![]() Outside of those, we had the tuna tartare which comes with homemade pork rinds, their roasted brussel sprouts, fried oysters, and finished with their flourless chocolate cake. Their blue crab claws are a must and I have them every time I eat here. They have some of the best comfort food in town. I am always frustrated when I come here that I don’t come here enough. They have excellent outdoor seating with every table having its own overhead heat lamp…hence the orange hue on all my pics. My pictures are awful but for good reason.
